DCS Summer Events - Food, Music and Shakespeare

June and July 2017 Return to Alumni Events

Despite the forecasts and threatening rainclouds at times, all our events remained dry this summer which, considering the mid-summer climate, was a success.

The summer started with the food at the DCS Bumps Dinner and at the Alumni Garden Party on the 16th of June and 7th of July respectively both organised by our College as usual. Then on the 19th July D.C.S. members met in the Botanic Gardens to hear the Westcombe Band which was a popular event with a large audience but the sound amplification system was not quite up to one which could be heard over the buzz of the spectators. Nevertheless we all enjoyed ourselves. Soon it was time for more food as the students organised the second annual food festival on the 4th August featuring foods all around the world as represented by our overseas students. This is always a very good occasion and as DCS is always invited, I do recommend it to you. More food followed with a combined D.C.S. and D.C.S.A. Barbecue in the Darwin Gardens on August the 4th.

Finally on the 11th August D.C.S. met at the Shakespeare Festival to see Midsummer Nights Dream, probably the best acted Shakespeare that this writer has seen at the Festival over the years. Overall a busy and enjoyable summer with D.C.S.
